Hoessein is a professor at the Department of Finance at Lund University. His research deals in general with empirical issues within finance. In recent years, his research has been focused on two major projects. One of the projects aims to analyze how real and financial sectors are affected by companies’ adoption of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria and how ESG implementation propagate in a firm’s product market network and affect the financial and operational performance of the firms in the network. The second project employs the mixed data sampling approach to decompose financial risk into a long-term component and a short-term component. Among other things, he investigates how the two components of risk are related to different types of economic information.
