Nordic Corporate Governance Network

about The Nordic Corporate Governance network and database
The Nordic Corporate Governance Network advances and renews the Nordic Corporate Governance Model through cutting-edge research, international collaboration, outreach, and open access to high-quality data. The Nordic Corporate Governance Network & Quantitative Database is a partnership between the leading business schools in the Nordics, serving as a Nordic platform with global reach.
The Network brings together Nordic and international researchers, policymakers, and practitioners with a shared interest in corporate governance. The Network was founded in 2010 and aims to strengthen international understanding and practical relevance of the Nordic Corporate Governance Model, while actively engaging with emerging global challenges. The positioning of NCGN: “A Nordic model of excellence and influence in global corporate governance.” This positioning reflects the Network’s ambition to act as a visible and credible Nordic voice in international corporate governance debates.
The Nordic Corporate Governance Database is a collaborative effort among leading Nordic universities to develop, maintain, and expand the most comprehensive quantitative database for corporate governance research in the Nordic region.
Nordic firms are known for their distinctive corporate governance characteristics: transparent ownership structures, strong stakeholder orientation, and representative governance models. Our purpose is not only to preserve these characteristics, but to further develop and project them internationally. This includes strengthening the Nordic governance identity and increasing engagement with key megatrends such as AI, digitalization, ESG, GovTech, and geopolitical risk, ensuring that Nordic corporate governance remains relevant, forward-looking, and influential in a rapidly changing global context.
